I have to admit that my first impression of Altona was not particularly positive. All our friends kept saying that it is the new trendy part of the city, but I was just not seeing it at all. Then one afternoon Peppe and I decided to take a random walk in the district, instead of taking the usual bus back home, and we ended up in this beautiful piece of cake that is Liebes Bisschen (little bites). Well, I have to admit, the main reason why I’ve been lured into this Café was its Nordic style. A lot of space, very clean and minimal with a hipster touch. You see, we two still get that Berlin hipster inside us 😉
The main protagonist of the Cafè is with no doubt the cake counter. A dozen of cakes are proudly and shiningly showcased at the counter, a joy for the eyes.
As a fan of mango, of course my choice goes to this vanilla mango cheesecake. Not too sweet, love it. The thin layer of jam at the bottom gives a special sour touch to the cake and a perfect contrast to the sweetness of the mango.
I do enjoy the style of this place, the cake, but…let’s say the Chai Latte, is really like a glass of milk with cinnamon, not just from the look, but also the taste.
Peppe got a hazelnut cake. I guess the waitress got some issues cutting the slice, since it looked really tiny. Despite the size, the cream was very nutty and smooth, Peppe loved it.
The espresso, too acid…as both of us are not the fan of very acid coffee (that’s way too hipster for us).
I think it has been a long long time that I didn’t take any photos from this angle. hmm, it seems cellphone does better job than DSLR camera, or it is just because I am too short? 😉
